MACH FEST-2026

 The PG & Research Department of Chemistry at A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women successfully organized MACH FEST – 2026, an Intercollegiate Competition, on 28 February 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 11 colleges, providing a vibrant platform for students to showcase their scientific knowledge, creativity, and teamwork. The fest included various competitions such as paper presentation, photography, memes, rangoli, and dumb charade, all centered around innovative chemistry themes. Participants actively engaged in the events and demonstrated excellent academic insight and creative expression. Aditanar College of Arts and Science secured the Overall Winner title with outstanding performance across multiple events. Industrial Visit

 > Industrial Visit to SPIC under LEAP Programme > The PG & Research Department of Chemistry, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, organized an industrial visit to Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd. (SPIC) on December 30, 2025, under the LEAP initiative. Ten final-year M.Sc. Chemistry students, accompanied by Dr.J.Jeyapratha participated in the visit. The programme included an expert technical session on large-scale chemical manufacturing, fertilizer production, industrial safety, and sustainability, followed by practical exposure at the Internal Quality Control Unit and a guided plant tour. The visit provided valuable industry-oriented learning and successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial practices.

National Girl Child Day-2026

 The PG & Research Department of Chemistry, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, celebrated National Girl Child Day on 24.01.2026 at the New Seminar Hall. The programme highlighted the theme “Essential Laws Empowering Legal Rights of Women in India.”The event was graced by the Chief Guest Mrs. K. Kalai Selvi, Senior Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority, Thoothukudi, and National Human Rights Commissioner. In her address, she emphasized the importance of legal awareness, gender equality, and the protection of women’s rights. The programme created awareness among students about the role of laws in empowering women and promoting social justice.

One Day Workshop

 The PG & Research Department of Chemistry, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, organized a One Day Workshop on **“Integrating Traditional Knowledge for a Sustainable & Climate Resilient Future”** on **12.12.2025** at Dr. Vasanthi Devi Hall. The program featured insightful sessions by **Dr. T. Sakthika**, who spoke on *Earthworm as Traditional Heroes in Ancient & Modern Agriculture*, and **Dr. V. Sornalakshmi**, who delivered a talk on *Traditional Use of Herbs in Home Remedies*. The workshop also included a keynote address by **Dr. P. Thangavel**, Director, Centre of Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management, Periyar University, on *Global Climate Change Scenarios & Key Outcomes of COP Meetings*. The event was successfully coordinated by the department faculty under the guidance of Principal **Dr. K. Subbulakshmi**, offering students valuable knowledge on traditional practices and climate resilience.

 Sadbhavana Diwas is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on 20th August 2025. This day is observed as 'Sadbhavana Diwas' or Harmony Day' with an objective to encourage national integration, peace, affection, and communal harmony among the Indian people of all religions and languages.The program began with a warm welcome address by Dr. H. Kohila Subathra Christy, Head and Associate Professor of Chemistry, highlighting the significance of Sadbhavana Diwas in fostering a spirit of goodwill and understanding within our diverse society.  International Conference On Recent Advancements in Chemical Sciences And Intellectual Property Rights (RACSIPR ‘25) The PG & Research Department of Chemistry organized an International Conference on “Recent Advancements in Chemical Sciences and Intellectual Property Rights (RACSIPR ‘25)” on 14.08.2025 at Dr. Vasanthi Devi Hall.
