International Conference On Recent Advancements in Chemical Sciences And Intellectual Property Rights (RACSIPR ‘25)
The PG & Research Department of Chemistry organized an International Conference on “Recent Advancements in Chemical Sciences and Intellectual Property Rights (RACSIPR ‘25)” on 14.08.2025 at Dr. Vasanthi Devi Hall. The conference aimed to bring together experts from academia and industry to discuss cutting-edge developments in Chemical Sciences and the role of IPR in safeguarding innovations.
Dr. K. Subbulakshmi, Principal, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi delivered the Presidential address during the inaugural session of the International Conference. The Principal welcomed the distinguished resource persons, delegates and participants from various institutions. The program commenced with a Welcome address by Dr. H. Kohila Subathra Christy, Head & Associate Professor of Chemistry. Dr. V. Devadoss, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Sciences and Pharmacy, University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Muscat delivered a Keynote address on “Intellectual Property Rights”. The session covered innovative approaches to the importance of securing intellectual property for scientific innovations.
The first session was delivered by Dr. V. Devadoss on the topic “Chemistry for Global Sustainability and Innovation” The talk emphasized the urgent need for green chemistry practices, highlighted breakthrough technologies for environmental protection. He also explained how intellectual property laws ensure the protection and commercialization of these innovations.
The second session was led by Dr. K. Karthik Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, The American College, Madurai on “Cascade Reactions of Saccharides and Morita–Baylis–Hillman Adducts for the Synthesis of Biologically Important Scaffolds” The speaker elaborated on the efficiency of cascade reactions in synthetic chemistry, their applications in drug discovery and presented recent research findings supported by case studies.
The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from 192 delegates including students, research scholars and faculty members from various institutions. Interactive Q&A sessions allowed participants to engage with experts and clarify their research-related queries.
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. P. Yokeswari Nithya, Assistant Professor of Chemistry who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, participants and organizing committee for their contributions. The event was widely appreciated for its informative sessions and collaborative spirit. The conference successfully achieved its goal of knowledge exchange and fostering research collaborations.
