INDEPENDENCE DAY 2020– REPORT

The 74thIndependence Day was celebrated at the College premises by the Department of Chemistry on August 15th, 2020 at 7.30 a.m. This year, the celebrations are a little different due to the coronavirus pandemic. The grand celebrations were scaled down this year to adhere to the safety protocols to contain the spread of COVID-19. The celebrations this year, taking place as the nation fights the coronavirus, are muted and strict social distancing and safety measures are in place. To pay tribute to corona warriors, or those at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, Mr.Tamilselvan, MAS Ambulance service, Social worker and Mr.M.Ibrahim Bashith, Swachh Police were invited to hoist the National flag and to commemorate the sovereignty of our country the Chief guests unfurled the tricolor in the backdrop of melodious notes of the flag song along with the dignitaries and expressed the joy of freedom.

Dr.N.Meenakumari, Principal, welcomed the gathering  and delivered the Independence Day message. She told the students about the supreme sacrifice the great martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of freedom. Dr.K.Sathyabama, Director  honoured the corona warriors and donated Rs.  25000; that is 10000 for sanitation workers and 15000 for those who are packing dead bodies and also distributed food packets to them.

Finally, Dr.H.Kohila Subathra Christy, Head, Department of Chemistry concluded the day up with the vote of thanks, this day reminds us every year that freedom is sacred and citizens must do everything to ensure that it shall not be endangered. The Independence Day celebration was over successfully with the National Anthem.
